The Championship Rings From Super Bowl XII

March 10, 2015

Continuing the blogs on the two championship rings awarded from every Super Bowl, here’s the next pair; an inside look at the two championship rings from Super Bowl XII:

Super Bowl XII Championship rings

As I’ve written many times, I hope you will accept my apology that the photo contains my website address. If I did not include it in the picture, other notorious web sites would steal my pictures and eBay sellers who make those incredibly cheap replicas in China that don’t look as realistic as authentic championship rings, will use these photos to claim the pictures are of their replica championship rings!

Most of the pictures I use in this blog series of the two championship rings are from my personal championship ring collection. As you know, these championship rings are extremely rare in the collecting community and are so rarely (or perhaps never) photographed in pairs from specific Super Bowls. So I hope you will excuse my on-going attempt to keep these photos from being misused and misrepresented. When I do use a picture found on the internet, I promise, I won’t place my website over the picture.

The ring on the left is the Dallas Cowboys second winning Super Bowl Ring from their 1977 season. Like the Raiders, the Cowboys made an effort to keep their championship ring theme the same. Later on, when they won the three Super Bowls in four seasons in the 90′s they radically changed the design of their Super Bowl Rings).

The Cowboys 1977 Super Bowl ring was designed and manufactured by Jostens in 10K solid white gold, the ring contains two large diamonds and smaller diamonds that give the ring some beautiful bling. The ring weighs 43 grams.

Like so many other winning Super Bowl rings, the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XII ring is extremely rare and in high demand by Cowboy fans and highly coveted by championship ring collectors. Very few of these rings have made it to the collecting community and the few that have, sold for a lot of money.

Harvey Martin, the co-MVP of Super Bowl XII, just had his ring sold at auction recently. The ring sold for $71,700.00.

In a tradition that continues to this day, the team that loses the Super Bowl is still recognized as a champion of their respective conference. I don’t know of any Denver Broncos rings besides the one I own that have hit the market place. This ring was made by Jostens in 10K gold. It weighs 36 grams. Boy, talk about a rare ring!

Please remember that I buy super bowl rings and buy championship rings too, so do let me know if you have a championship ring you would like to sell.

Will The Patriots Next Championship Ring Be Affected By Deflate-Gate?

January 26, 2015

Obviously the championship ring the Pats are awarded as AFC Champs, or World Champions won’t have needles leaking air from footballs as shown below:

New England Patriots 2014 Championship Ring

Many fans and Championship ring-enthusiasts feel it would be egregious for the NFL to allow (or look the other way) and have the Pats make a huge gorgeous championship ring celebrating this season’s accomplishments, after the team has once again tarnished themselves and the NFL.

The photo above, showed up on Twitter this week. It’s a photo manipulation of the Patriots Super Bowl XXXIX front office ring, (not the player’s version). The imitation marquise diamonds have been replaced with metallic footballs with pins attached to remind us and tease Patriot fans that air has been let out of footballs.

Come to think of it, perhaps someday soon we will actually will see this Super Bowl ring made – The cheap replica ring makers in China could easily reproduce this championship ring and sell it on eBay for under $100.00. Who knows, perhaps one day it could be a collectors item!

If you want to sell your championship ring, please give me a call. I buy championship rings.

Ottis Anderson, The Modified Super Bowl Ring, and a Photobomb All Together!

November 22, 2014

I blogged only a few days ago about Ottis Anderson and his modified Giants Super Bowl XXI ring, and in another blog, discussed recent Photobombs. Look at the photo that just appeared on Twitter!

New York Giant Super Bowl Rings

A couple of days ago (scroll down the page or use the search button on the right) we showed a close up of Bart Oates Giants Super Bowl XXI ring and how he modified it to increase the bling on the ring. I mentioned that his teammate, Ottis Anderson did the same thing to his Super bowl XXI ring.

Here in the photograph you can see New York Giants fan Natalie, modeling the modified super bowl XXI ring.

And, we can classify Natalie’s tweet as another Super Bowl ring photobomb!

My advise to those lucky fans who get to wear championship rings with the players who won them, and then post it on twitter – please be sure to identify the ring properly. Natalie tweets that she’s wearing Ottis Anderson’s Super Bowl XXV ring, when in fact she is wearing the Super Bowl XXI ring.

Perhaps she slipped because she really wanted to wear the Super Bowl XXV ring – Ottis was named MVP of Super Bowl XXV and the NFL Films story of him and that super bowl game is absolutely must-watch television.

Another theory is perhaps Natalie, like the rest of us, is a hard-core fan of super bowl rings and championship rings and just got confused since the Super Bowl XXI ring she is wearing was so heavily modified.

Please remember, if you want to sell any championship rings, I will buy them. My favorite, thing to buy is Super bowl rings (and I buy AFC/NFC championship rings too).
