Two Gorgeous Football Championship Rings Spotted In One Presentation Box

November 8, 2014

Two team doctors, and long time friends from different football leagues, recently caught up with each other and took this great picture of their championship rings:

NFL and CFL Championship Rings

Championship ring collectors who don’t live in Canada, know that the Canadian Football League produces some amazing Grey Cup Championship rings. Those championship rings rival NFL Super Bowl rings in size, style, and bling.

So when this photograph of player-size championship rings appeared recently on Twitter, I couldn’t resist to write about it.

The BC Lion ring from 2011 and the Seahawks ring from Super Bowl XLVIII look great together. Equal in size, diamonds and bling, I’m not sure which one is nicer. Football fans hate ties in football, but perhaps this is one tie we can all live with.

Congratulations to both team doctors, it’s great that they received player-sized championship rings!

If anyone reading this blog has a BC Lions championship ring for sale, I will buy that championship ring (and in fact, I will buy any championship ring).

Championship Ring Photo Bombs!

September 30, 2014

Part of my ongoing look at Super Bowl and Championship Ring Humor is this recent twitter photograph and post.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Ring Photo Bomb

Elisa is asking on twitter how the ring looks?

We see that the photographer didn’t say anything to her about the super bowl ring pose showing the championship ring being worn upside down.

I wonder if her followers will point out the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl ring would look a whole lot better if it wasn’t upside down!

The Super Bowl Ring Picture Richard Sherman Would Never Tweet

August 12, 2014

When Sherman wants to one-up opposing cornerbacks and wide receivers, he Tweets photos of his Super Bowl Ring.   He probably shouldn’t if they were on the Ravens Super Bowl XLVII team.

The New York Giants Super Bowl Rings 4 Championship Rings

The Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII ring is not the biggest super bowl championship ring. Compared to the Ravens ring from a year earlier, it really doesn’t compare at all.

The Ravens ring, shown above, was made by Jostens and contains an unbelievable 243 diamonds and weighs in at 88 grams. The Ravens ring is made of 10K gold, not 14K like most other super bowl rings. 10K gold is around 15% lighter then 14K gold. So visually, the Ravens ring is physically the largest super bowl ring ever produced, just not the heaviest.

The Seahawks ring, also shown above is made by Tiffany. The ring is made of 14K solid white gold. The Super Bowl XLVIII championship ring contains 64 round diamonds and 12 diamonds around the logo. There’s one large marquis diamond, representing the team’s first super bowl victory. The ring also contains 40 blue sapphire diamonds and 183 total diamonds. The Seahawks ring weighs in at 74 grams.

Although the Seahawks ring is dwarfed by the Ravens ring, all is not lost for Richard Sherman and his teammates: The Seahawks ring compares in size to the last two Tiffany produced rings for first time champions (see below).

The Super Bowl XLVIII Championship Ring Final Recap

August 3, 2014

I finally have obtained the two championship rings in-hand and can now compare them properly.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XVIII ring and Denver Broncos 2013 AFC Championship Ring

The final score of Super Bowl XLVIII was Seattle 43, Denver 8.

Championship ring enthusiasts were dying to know the size of the two rings and how they compare. We now know the score on the Super Bowl XVLIII championship rings: Seattle 73.5, Denver 54.

That’s the weights in grams of these two impressive rings.

The Seattle Seahawks also won the battle of shanks (the sides of the rings) when comparing them to the Denver Broncos AFC championship ring.

Here’s how they compare:

The Seahawks ring, made by Tiffany, is made of 14K solid white gold. The Super Bowl XLVIII champions ring contains 64 round diamonds and 12 diamonds around the logo. There’s one larger marquis diamond, representing the team’s first super bowl victory. The ring also contains 40 blue sapphire diamonds and 183 total diamonds. The total carat weight in diamonds is 2.33. The ring is 26mm.

The Denver Broncos 2013 AFC Championship ring was made by Jostens and it’s the first Super Bowl or AFC/NFC championship ring made with a multi-color onyx stone. This means that the blue stone on top of the ring shows different shades of blue and makes a really nice pattern when light hits it.

The Broncos ring is 54 grams in weight and one side of the ring shows the Sports Authority Field at Mile High and the other shank shows the 2013 AFC championship trophy.

Richard Sherman Tweets Picture of his Super Bowl Ring as the Cornerback War Continues

July 31, 2014

Only a few hours after Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson signed a five-year, $70 million deal with $40 million of it guaranteed, the Twitter wars heated up.

The contract made Peterson the highest paid Cornerback in the National Football League.

Richard Sherman, the notorious and often outspoken Seattle Seahawks corner, felt the need to engage in a little one-upmanship. So he tweeted a photograph of him wearing is Super Bowl XLVIII ring.

As is the case with most of Richard Sherman’s Twitter tiffs, (and the same can be said for his fellow cornerbacks around the league) is the issue whether Sherman is the best cornerback in the NFL.

Perhaps Sherman he feels slighted or maybe he is annoyed by Peterson’s deal, worth more than the five-year, $58.8 million contract Sherman signed this off-season.

I have the feeling we will see more Tweets and this story is far from over. This may be the best entertainment us football fans have until the start of the season.
