Two Championship Rings Priced All-Wrong on eBay

June 27, 2019

Here are two offerings that won’t be selling anytime soon on eBay:

**photo description here**

Like many championship ring enthusiasts, I often visit the eBay website to view championship rings being offered.

I’m sure that those that do visit eBay like I do, perform a sort-function, such as highest to lowest priced championship rings. This way you can see the better championship rings on top, and those $20.00 hideous and deformed championship ring replicas from China remain out of site on your search results.

These two championship ring offerings (pictured above) wound up back-to-back on my sort, since both are at the $23,000.00 mark.

The first championship ring, looks to be an authentic Jostens Eagles Super Bowl fan ring. Nothing is wrong with this championship ring if you are an Eagles fan or wish to pursue championship ring collecting on a modest budget. However priced at $23,000 for a championship ring that probably cost way under $10,000 when it came out is not realistic.

Not only is the seller asking a lot of money for this Super Bowl ring, there’s no buy-it-now option and the seller is doing an old-time auction where the $23,000.00 is the starting bid. I’m pretty sure this auction will end without any bids.

The next championship ring has been on eBay for years and years. Shortly after this Super Bowl ring was released to players and staff, this eBay seller acquired the ring and put it on ebay at a realistic price.

I did a buy it now on that championship ring (years ago) and the seller reneged on the deal and returned my money. He stated his wife would not let him sell the ring.

Perhaps the wife changed her mind a couple of years later, and the seller put this NFC player’s ring back on eBay at around triple the original price I had agree to pay. Every year or so the seller lowers his price, as these player championship rings tend to sell in the $6,000 to $12,000 range.

The seller is still around double the high-end price range for a player’s ring who is not a star or well known. Unlike the other seller who is starting his Super Bowl ring at $23,000, the Panther ring seller is accepting best offers, but don’t hold your breath that this championship ring will be selling anytime soon.

There are some good deals on eBay when it comes to championship rings, but these two aren’t one of them.

On a personal note, I am sorry my championship ring blog site has been much slower in new content lately. All is good, but I’ve been quite busy with other things in life, and hope to get back to writing more soon.

Please remember as always I buy championship rings. If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.

Diving Into The Patriots Super Bowl LIII Rings

June 13, 2019

Jostens, the manufacturer of the latest stunning Super Bowl ring, released a press release a week ago about these stunning rings, but details were vague:

Patriots Super Bowl LIII ring

Here’s what we learned after the press release.

The new Super Bowl rings are largest the and most blinged out Super Bowl ring ever. They have a total of 422 diamonds and 20 sapphires.

Here are some other fascinating details:

As expected the Super Bowl LIII rings contain the final score from the game and pays tribute to the team’s six championships by listing the years they won those titles.

The Pats tradition of placing Lombardi trophies representing each title on the top of the ring continues. You will find six trophies with each containing a large diamond (as seen above).

On the inside of the ring, it says “We are all Patriots.” Beneath the final score, the Patriots have provided a reminder to the rest of the league that they’re “still here” — not that any of the other 31 teams needed a reminder.

The 422 diamonds throughout the ring total 9.85 carats, and those 20 sapphires were incorporated to represent their 20 AFC East titles.

Tom Brady becomes the first and only NFL player to need two hands to wear all his Super Bowl rings (that’s what happens when you win your sixth one as a player).

If you think that’s a lot, Head Coach Bill Belichick is close to filling up all 10 of his fingers. The Super Bowl ring he received on Thursday night is his eighth Super Bowl ring. He’s earned six as the Head Coach of the Patriots and two as the defensive coordinator of the Giants.

The photo of Belichick below shows all those Patriots rings, plus two Giants Super Bowl ring (barely visible on the far left and far right).

What does all this mean for championship ring collectors? One thing that’s become very hard to find out with recent Super Bowl rings is the gram weight of the player version rings. Collectors will pay a lot of money for championship rings that are player sized. However, the price drops sharply if a championship ring for sale or auction is a smaller version than what a player received.

A “family and friends” version of the last Patriots Super Bowl winning ring was available to players and staff to purchase. This Super Bowl ring cost around $10,000 for members within the organization. Those rings are around 80% the size of the player’s version. Some of these family and friends rings have leaked out to the collecting community and sell for a ton of money.

Buyers of these rings may not realize they are not the same size as the player’s version. Furthermore, as time goes on, these may not be a great investment for collectors, as real player size rings enter the marketplace.

Meanwhile, here’s a video of Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and their teammates as they react to their latest Super Bowl ring:

Patriots Receive Their Super Bowl LIII Rings

June 10, 2019

On Thursday evening, the Patriots received their Sixth Super Bowl ring, and as promised, they are incredible:

Patriot Super Bowl LIII rings

One thing championship ring enthusiasts expected came true with the newest Patriots Super Bowl rings: They are the biggest, most blinged out Super Bowl ring ever created.

The picture above was tweeted by Tom Brady – it shows all six of his Super Bowl rings. You can see the latest championship ring (top right) is larger than the others, and in an interesting decision by the team (or Jostens), the championship ring box looks to be smaller than past Patriot championship ring boxes.

The photo below illustrates that even with Tom Brady’s huge hands, the newest championship ring (far left) is huge and must be completely uncomfortable to wear:

As heavy and uncomfortable as it must be to wear for an extended time, no one from the organization is complaining.

Jostens in their press release confirmed that this is the biggest Super Bowl ring ever created.

Here are additional details about the Super Bowl ring LIII according to the Jostens Press Release:

“CHAMPIONS, is proudly displayed on either side of the uniquely-shaped ring top. A patriotic 76 diamonds adorn the edges of the ring. Completing the intricate design are 20 round blue sapphires, which are emblematic of the Patriots 20 AFC East division championships.

The right side of the ring features the team’s official wordmark above the Super Bowl LIII logo and includes the score, 13-3. The rally cry of “STILL HERE,” which the team embraced throughout the 2018 playoffs, completes the design of the ring’s right side.

Fashioned using the Patriots official font, the name of each recipient appears on the left side of the ring above Gillette Stadium’s signature view lighthouse and bridge. To the left of the lighthouse, each ring features the players’ uniform number, encrusted in diamonds. The franchise’s sixth Super Bowl title is commemorated with a 6X and dated 2018.”

In a strange move, Jostens did not detail much about the top of the Super Bowl ring.

Here’s a link to Jostens press release which includes videos on the latest and greatest Super Bowl ring.

Patriots Share a Glimpse of Newest Super Bowl Rings In Teaser Video

June 6, 2019

In what seems like an annual tradition, the Patriots will be receiving their newest Super Bowl rings today:

Patriots Super Bowl LIII ring

Actually they will hold their private championship ring ceremony this evening; where the highlight will be the distribution of their Super Bowl LIII rings.

Given the organization’s regularity for winning championship rings, the unveiling of a new Patriots Super Bowl ring, has become an event that the Patriots do like no other professional sports team.

It’s still a mystery exactly how the championship rings will look (there’s a link to the teaser video below), but don’t expect much to be revealed in the video.

In past seasons, Patriot Super Bowl rings have had some unique features. For instance, after winning Super Bowl LI, the Patriots super bowl ring had 283 diamonds — in celebration of the team’s unlikely comeback from 28-3 deficit to beat the Falcons. (That detail didn’t sit well with Falcons owner Arthur Blank, or many sports fans.)

Patriot Super Bowl rings are also known for their standard designs that don’t change much year-after-year, and for being bigger and containing more bling than any other professional sports team championship rings.

The internet should be filled with player videos late this evening and tomorrow of the event, and of course pictures and videos of their newest Super Bowl rings.

Here’s that link:
