Yes, you read that correctly, this is actually happening:

Kobe Bryant parents championship ring auctions

TMZ is reporting that the two solid 14k gold rings, loaded with real diamonds, that Kobe Bryant purchased for his parents can be yours – all you have to do is win the auction(s).

According to Goldin Auctions, Kobe purchased two identical, championship rings for his parents to celebrate and honor his very first NBA championship with the Lakers during the 1999-2000 season.

The two championship rings, containing 40 diamonds in each ring, are the same size and configuration that the players were awarded after beating the Indiana Pacers. These two championships rings come with paperwork, and they are 100% authentic, and they are quite impressive.

These championship rings also have a fascinating history: Kobe’s mother, Pamela Bryant, attempted to auction these championship rings, along with some of Kobe’s sports memorabilia several years ago. Kobe sued his own mom to try and halt the sale.

Kobe ultimately agreed to allow his parents to sell 6 items — including the rings. The items sold to a private collector (a big Lakers fan) for a total of $280,000.

Now, it appears that this collector is ready to sell these championship rings and consigned them back to Goldin Auctions to auction.

The auction is now underway. Starting bids are $35,000 for Joe Bryant’s ring and $20,000 for Pamela Bryant’s ring. The discrepancy in price is because Pamela’s ring is sized for a woman, and women’s sized championship rings tend to fetch less money than a man’s size. However each of the championship rings are expected to easily hit six figures.
