The Most Expensive Purchase of Championship Rings Ever

November 14, 2018

Think your championship rings cost a lot of money? Jostens was just sold for $1.3 Billion dollars:

Jostens championship ring company sold

Besides crafting more championship ring than any other company in the world, Jostens is also well-known for making school rings and yearbooks.

Jostens, was just sold for $1.3 billion. Their parent company, Newell Brands announced last week, that it’s selling Jostens to Platinum Equity, a private investment firm.

Jostens had net sales of $768 million in 2017, and is most well-known for the incredible championship rings it makes for the Super Bowl, World Series, and other championship winners.

But it also does the bulk of its business providing items to schools and students including yearbooks, class jewelry, and graduation memorabilia.

Michael Polk, the Newell Brands President and Chief Executive Officer, said “We have full confidence that these businesses will continue to thrive under new ownership, as they leverage their strong positions in the market place.”

The company’s new owner, Platinum Equity, was founded in 1995 and currently manages around $13 billion of assets, with Jostens joining its portfolio of 40 companies it also owns.

Sometimes small and large changes are made to companies that are acquired by investment firms, so it will be interesting to see if this Jostens sale will result in them keeping their large market share of championship ring designs.

Please remember as always, I buy championship rings. If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.

These Championship Ring Boxes Look Terrific!

November 7, 2018

It’s rare that I come across, and recommend championship ring presentation boxes that are available for sale to the public. But these look awesome:

championship ring displays

I am not affiliated with the seller of these championship ring boxes but I had to blog about them. I really like what I see!

If your team has won three to seven championship rings, or you have a championship ring theme such as college football, or NY Baseball, etc., these championship ring boxes might be for you.

For once, we see a seller who in no way is crossing the line of copyrighted or licensed materials – anyone can legally make a generic championship ring box.

I think it’s great that the boxes already contain well-made die-cut cutouts so the championship rings should just fit right in.

But wait…. there’s more….. the championship ring boxes, if I understand correctly are designed with a built-in-stand. (see photos above).

And there’s no reason why a buyer of these championship ring boxes, couldn’t add a decal to the glass top of their favorite team, or even get a sign maker or decal maker to make an “etched-like” image for the glass top.

My only concern is that I hope there’s a large enough gap for some of those enormous new championship rings, so that they fit into the box and the glass top will close.

If anyone purchases one of these, please let me know if you are pleased with the product.

Here is the company’s contact information:

A President Trump Championship Ring is For Sale on eBay

November 6, 2018

In recognition of Election Day, I’m blogging about this unusual championship ring available on eBay:

President Donald Trump Championship Ring on eBay

First off, I’m not affiliated with this championship ring and I don’t know the seller. I’m not even going to bore you or annoy any readers with my political opinions or beliefs.

However, I would like to share some opinions on this championship ring design – what they did right and what they could have done better.

If you detest Donald Trump, don’t get mad at me, please remember this is not an endorsement of him – just a look at a championship ring that was made. If you like or love Trump, don’t get mad at me, I am just blogging about this ring.

What I like about this championship ring is that it looks well made. I did a story in January 2017, shortly after he was elected, about another Trump championship ring. You can search the archives to find that blog entry by typing in “Trump”.

That Trump championship ring had a better shank (side of the ring) where it stated Trump’s campaign motto – “Make America Great Again”. The championship ring shown above, went with something less positive – the phrase “The Deplorables”, a knock on Hillary Clinton and a comment she made during the election campaign about people who supported Trump.

Another thing I like about the ring is the “45″ – a reference that Trump is the 45th President of the United States. The designer should have moved the “45″ to the side of the ring and copied the style and feel of a player championship ring with incorporating the “45″ on the side where a player’s jersey numbers is found.

The last comment I have is the “T” on top of the ring could have really stood out had the designer used imitation diamonds (that cost practically nothing) and surrounded the “T” in a sea of white diamonds.

In fairness to Trump’s political opponent Hillary Clinton, I would have shown a runner-up championship ring with her name on it as well, but I am not sure any exist.

Whatever your political beliefs are, I hope you will go out and vote today!

Please remember as always, I buy championship rings (perhaps not political championship rings). If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.

Every Yankee World Series Ring Can be Yours

November 3, 2018

Someone is selling fake Yankee World Series rings on Twitter and now you can be the proud owner of all 27 Yankee championship rings:

Every Yankee World Series Ring

I am not affiliated with the seller of these bogus Yankee World Series rings, and I have not seen them up close.

In fact, I’m not a big fan of replica championship rings and I continue to be shocked that the major championship ring manufacturers, the professional teams, and major league offices allow these items to be sold.

However, I am here to blog about the world of championship rings, so here I go:

From the photograph above that recently appeared on Twitter, the bogus Yankee World Series rings appear to look O.K. I have seen much worse quality knockoffs.

It’s neat that the 27 Yankee World Series ring set (one for each World Series championship the team has won), is represented here. Imagine if someone tried to include the Yankee A.L. championship rings too (given when the team has lost the world series). You would be looking at about forty championship rings in the set.

It’s also cool that the Yankee set includes a championship ring box with a glass top. It appears that the etched (or stickered) glass top will completely block a few championship rings from view when the top is closed, but oh well, things like that is what you can expect from cheap Chinese championship ring knockoffs.

Now for the bad:

  • The championship rings are not made to scale. The rings from the 20′s through the 60′s should be significantly smaller than the modern championship rings. Not so in this set.

  • The 1996 World Series ring, bottom row, second from left, is missing the center diamond. All player rings from this year contain a large center diamond on top of the ring.

  • The 1978 World Series ring, bottom row, 1st ring on left, looks to be shaped wrong. It should be longer and not square.

If I can pick up these three major flaws from the photo shown, this indicates there are probably a lot more errors. It’s hard to find additional issues since the championship rings appear so small in the photo.

Please remember as always, I buy championship rings (real ones not replicas or salesman samples). If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.
