When this 1959 White Sox showed up for sale on eBay, I thought it couldn’t be authentic – but it turns out to be completely real:

1959 Chicago White Sox ALCS American League Championship ring

“You learn something new everyday”. The old adage is true; especially when it comes to championship rings.

The vintage American League Championship ring shown above, belonged to a coach and is for sale on eBay right now. Notice the sides of the championship ring are completely blank.

This is normally a dead-giveaway that someone took a pendant or cufflink and had a jeweler modify the piece into a championship ring.

However upon some research, it looks like Balfour produced championship rings for the White Sox in this style back in 1959.

The championship ring offered on eBay has lost much of the “White Sox” etching that appears in the blue sapphire stone. A couple of other examples found on the internet also have this etching (in better condition) and they too have the blank sides on the ring.

This is the first championship ring that I can remember that was designed and made this way.

I am not affiliated with this championship ring or the seller, I’m just here to blog about the world of championship rings.

Please remember as always, I buy championship rings. If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.
