Acrylic Championship Ring Displays – Part II

September 22, 2017

Yesterday I blogged about acrylic championship ring displays. I had no idea there’d be a second part to this blog; but look what I just found on eBay:

Green bay Packer Super Bowl ring cube

I am not affiliated with anyone selling championship rings on eBay, or these acrylic championship rings. I’m just here to blog about the world of championship rings.

If you missed yesterday’s blog, please check it out. We highlighted the cool features of these great looking acrylic displays and typically (more on this in a moment), how they’re priced relatively low, so that championship ring enthusiasts or fans of specific teams can display some great looking rings.

Not mentioned yesterday, the largest cube I’ve seen was after the Patriots won their third Super Bowl ring. Jostens and the team sold a limited-edition cube containing all three of their Patriots Super Bowl rings.

Well apparently, as shown above, the Packers one upped them: The Packers must’ve produced a display with all four of the Packer’s Super Bowl rings. This acrylic cube, unlike the Tampa Bay Lighting’s single cube championship ring shown yesterday, is massive and probably quite heavy. It would need to be huge to hold these four championship rings.

Speaking of huge, the asking price for this eBay listing is $999.99; however the seller is seeking offers for less money. At almost a grand, this cube is around 13 times the cost of yesterday’s ebay listing.

I have no idea how many Packer cubes with the four Super Bowl rings are in the market place, but I’m betting it’s not many since I’ve never seen this product before.

Please remember as always, I buy championship rings, just not salesman samples or acrylic championship ring displays. If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.

Acrylic Championship Ring Displays Rock!

September 21, 2017

Want a cool-looking championship ring display for little money? Check out eBay and the varied price ranges of these items:

tampa bay lightning acrylic championship ring cube

I’m not affiliated with any of these championship ring displays, or their sellers; I’m just here to blog about the world of championship rings.

I own a few of these acrylic championship ring displays, so I can tell you first-hand, they look great in a display case or curio cabinet.

Sometimes the replica championship ring inside the cube is quite accurate (like in the photo above), but sometimes, not so much.

I’ve owned my displays for years and the acrylic material has held up exceptionally well; no yellowing on the material, and the championship rings look like the day I acquired them.

Before the days of Chinese championship ring knockoffs that now sell on eBay for under $20.00, some astute championship ring collectors would buy these items and remove the championship rings (supposedly unharmed) from their acrylic case. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, as the championship ring inside, like their Chinese look-alikes, will probably fall apart with constant wear.

Unlike those Chinese championship ring knockoffs, these acrylic championship ring displays are offered by the real championship ring companies like Jostens. I have no idea if Jostens actually makes these championship rings, or subcontracts them to other companies. I also have no idea how a manufacturer gets the championship ring inside the cube. I will share that the championship ring is in their solidly, I’ve never seen one move!

Unfortunately, most teams do not sell an official championship ring acrylic display of their championship rings, so your choices will be limited. The Patriots, Lightning, and a few other teams have offered these, and I am not sure if they still do. However, like many things on eBay, they may be sold out, or no longer produced, but they’re readily available on eBay.

Please remember, I buy championship rings (not cubes). If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.

Jostens Shows Off Their Super Bowl Rings

September 20, 2017

The Jostens Super Bowl ring tour, kicks off in the Minneapolis area and their display design is almost as cool as the championship rings:

Jostens Super Bowl Rings

The picture above shows a man on the far right. The view with the man helps show the size of the display which is a much nicer display method than what the NFL experience has done in the past (the show that displays every Super Bowl ring, in the host city up before the Super Bowl game each year.

The NFL corporate offices also has an amazing custom display of every Super Bowl ring. Keep in mind, the NFL could spend millions on their display, but Jostens, with a more more limited budget, did a great job.

I use the word every, because Jostens is a local Minneapolis company and has made roughly two-thirds of the Super Bowl rings. Other companies combined, have accounted for about a third of the Super Bowl ring design and production.

Jostens is only showcasing their designs and manufactured championship rings, while the NFL at their head quarters, and at the traveling NFL experience, and their new NFL New York City location (a museum-like exhibit and tourist destination), all have each championship ring on display.

If you’re near the Minneapolis display, go check it out, you won’t be sorry.

Please remember as always, I buy championship rings. That means if you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.

Common, Redskins, Gives These Guys Their Super Bowl Rings!

September 18, 2017

Joe Gibbs won’t say it publicly, but those ’87 Redskin replacements deserve a real Super Bowl ring:

Redskins Replacements Super Bowl rings

ESPN just did an amazing documentary on the 1987 Washington Redskin replacement players.

The 30 for 30 feature covered the whole story; the anger of the striking players, owners, fans, and the difficult decisions the replacements faced is all retold.

Like the Rocky movies, somehow the underdog Redskin replacements wound up winners. All three of their football games that counted in the standings were victories, including a highly improbable win against the Cowboys in their final replacement game. The cowboys had some of their stars and future hall of famers playing, including Tony Dorsett, while the Skins had no NFL players on their roster.

Without the three victories, there’s a good chance the Skins would not have been in a position to play-in and win the Super Bowl.

A few of the replacement players made the team when the strike ended, and of course they were awarded Super Bowl rings. Yet the vast majority of the replacement players didn’t make the team, and while they received a share of the playoff money, they did not receive championship rings.

Eric Coyle had a replica Super Bowl ring made (shown above). This can be done by borrowing a real Super Bowl ring and having a clay-mold made from it. While it looks great from a distance, and pretty decent up close, compared to the original, it’s a far cry from a real one.

Towards the end of the documentary, ESPN goes into detail about the Super Bowl ring injustice and by all means, the entire documentary is must watch TV, not just the parts about the Super Bowl ring snub.

Here’s a long article from the The Washington Post about the replacement players and the omission of their Super Bowl rings: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2017/09/13/joe-gibbs-wont-say-it-but-1987-redskins-replacements-deserve-super-bowl-rings/?utm_term=.61b8da9e7077

And do watch the ESPN documentary, titled Year of The Scab.

Please remember, I buy championship rings all the time. If you would like to sell your championship ring in a completely private deal, please contact me and I will buy your championship ring.

Royals World Series Ring Debuts On eBay

September 16, 2017

It’s not the player’s version, and it’s not made of solid gold and real diamonds, yet this is one great looking championship ring:

2015 Royal World Series Ring

I am not affiliated with this World Series ring, or the person or company selling it; I’m just here to blog about the world of championship rings.

This recent eBay listing caught my eye – and why wouldn’t it. This is the first Royals 2015 World Series ring I’ve seen offered for sale.

Here’s the good with the ring:

  • It looks amazing
  • The seller has priced the World Series ring fairly and is accepting lower offers
  • Comes with Jostens original paperwork and appraisal

Here’s the not so good:

  • Unlike the player’s version, it’s not made of solid gold and real diamonds
  • There’s a good chance this championship ring is smaller than the player’s version
  • It’s a small finger size – 8.75 to 9
  • Comes with the cheap Jostens ring box, not a wood presentation box

Anyone looking to purchase this World Series ring, can visit ebay and put your offer in.

Meanwhile, please remember as always, I buy championship rings. If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.
