It’s unusual that championship rings aren’t some of the featured items at a large sports-memorabilia auction; but in the upcoming Heritage Auction, championship rings are taking a back seat to other offerings:

Babe Ruth Sultan of Swat Award

I’m not affiliated with Heritage Auctions; I don’t work for them, or get anything from that company when I write about their auctions. Although I’ve managed to upset them over the years, when I occasionally call out some incomplete descriptions of auction items. Eventually those descriptions are modified so everyone, including the eventual winners of the championship rings are pleased and understand exactly what they’re acquiring.

I’m not selling any items in their upcoming auction and I’m not trying to help bid-up the prices, as I have no skin in the game. I’m just here to blog about the world of championship rings!

The Auction takes place August 19th – 20th, 2017, and my catalog arrived by mail over the weekend. The first thing I do when I receive an auction catalog is quickly go through the pages looking for championship rings I’d like to bid on. However, I was blown away by the quality (and quantity) of amazing items offered in this auction, including a rare “Sultan of Swat Award” crown originally awarded to Ernie Banks (as shown above).

While there are many championship rings offered in the upcoming auction, including many that will sell at very different pricing tiers, the main stars in this auction include historic game jersey’s belonging to legends such as Casey Stengel, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Roger Marris, Roberto Clemente and many other Hall of Famers.

If game-worn jerseys our not your thing, there are plenty of game used bats by Hall of Famers, many high-quality rare baseball cards, and plenty of awards such as a scout’s 1923 Yankee Solid Gold Pocket Watch, given to players, coaches, scouts and team executives before the Yankees started to award World Series Rings four seasons later.

There are plenty of World Series rings, Super Bowl rings, and other championship rings in this huge auction and over the next week or so, I’ll cover some of them in detail.

Please remember, I buy championship rings all the time. If you would like to sell your championship ring in complete privacy, please contact me.
