College Football Championship Rings Stolen From Former MSU Coach

September 24, 2015

Former Michigan State Head Football Coach George Perles just wants his championship rings back.

Michigan State University championship rings

“There’s a lot of sentimental value in there, that only my wife and I could appreciate,” he said. Perles ways says when he went to the MSU versus Oregon football game last Saturday someone broke in and stole 14 championship rings and a bracelet that commemorated his bowl game wins.

“They mean a lot,” Perles said. “They represent your whole career.”

He says he believes that the thief or thieves only targeted the championship rings because everything else in the house was untouched. They passed up electronics, money, and other valuable items. But Perles says the championship rings they stole probably aren’t the rings they wanted.

“My closet in my bedroom was turned upside down looking for everything they could find. But what I think they were after were this,” he said, pointing to the ring on his hand. “Superbowl rings.”

He keeps the four Super Bowl rings he won as a Pittsburgh Steelers coach in a safe deposit box (except for the one he wears).

Perles says his name is on all of his championship rings, so whoever stole them will have trouble selling them.

He has requested that whoever took the rings just give them back.

Anyone with information about the crime should contact Meridian Michigan Township Police.

Please remember, I buy championship rings, so please let me know if you have s Super Bowl ring, World Series ring or championship ring that you would like to sell.

Yankees Legend Yogi Berra Dies at 90

September 23, 2015

Beloved baseball figure, Yogi passed away. As this blog always does, let’s pay tribute to him by looking at his championship rings:

(Click picture below for a larger picture)

Yogi Berra Career Championship ring

Berra, one of the all-time baseball greats has earned more championship world series ring than anyone else in baseball history.

In addition to the ten World Series rings he won as a player with the Yankees, he also earned four American League championship rings (awarded when a baseball team loses in the World Series) and seven more championship rings after retiring as a baseball player.

Here’s a breakdown of the seven World Series Rings after he retired: As an assistant coach and as the manager, he earned three World Series rings with the Yankees and Mets and four League Championship rings. That brings his championship ring total to a mind boggling 21 rings!

Yogi Berra World Series Rings

As the infomercial is famous for saying – Wait, there’s more! As a Yankee icon and legend, and being part of the Yankee family, he probably received five winning rings and possibly two additional American League rings from the Yankees starting in 1996. If in fact he did receive these rings, that would bring his championship ring total to 28!

If you would like to learn more about Yogi Berra’s World Series rings, please type in “Yogi” on the search-box on the right. The blogs I have done about Yogi’s championship rings and his marvelous museum located in New Jersey (that displays many of his championship rings and other memorabilia) will be available.

As always, please remember, I purchase championship rings. Please let me know if you have any championship rings for sale.

Jason of Beverly Hills Chosen to Create Warriors’ NBA Championship Ring

September 22, 2015

Famous jeweler, Jason of Beverly Hills has been awarded the assignment to create the 2015 NBA Championship rings for the Golden State Warriors.

2015 Warriors Championship Ring

The Warriors defeated Lebron James and the Cavaliers in June to bring the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy back to the Bay Area for the first time in an unbelievable forty years.

If you are not familiar with Jason of Beverly Hills, and you’re a championship ring enthusiast you should get to know them.

Jason of Beverly Hills designed and manufactured one of the most amazing championship rings I have ever seen – the 2009 Lakers ring. So many championship rings are labeled “amazing” but the 2009 Lakers ring is in a class of its own.

First off, gold is usually made in 10K or 14K and sometimes 18k. But never in-between, until they made the Lakers ring. A special batch of 15 karat gold was mixed and used to commemorate the 15 historic championships for the Lakers.

Next, and also unbelievable, for the first time in championship ring history, each player is immortalized with their own face and uniform number on their individual championship ring.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Jason of Beverly Hills on the creation of our championship rings,” said Warriors assistant G.M. Kirk Lacob. “These rings will serve as lifelong reminders of our record-breaking journey to the title for our players, coaches and staff and will be something each member of our organization will forever treasure. The meticulous attention to detail in the custom design process exemplified by Jason of Beverly Hills will result in a ring that represents our team, region and history in a unique manner.”

“We are honored to have been picked by the Warriors to create this piece of history. We were excited for the opportunity to challenge ourselves again with another cutting-edge design, and we look forward to creating a ring that will be talked about in sports circles for generations, ” said Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills.

The championship ring will be unveiled at the Warriors’ home opening game on Oct. 27.

Please remember I buy championship rings. If you would like to sell a championship ring, please let me know.

The Championship Ring That Got Away

September 21, 2015

Not sealing the deal, and losing a chance to acquire a needed championship ring, is usually a bad thing – in this case it worked out for the best:

2014 Seahawks NFC Championship ring

Last week I had a chance to acquire a player’s NFC 2014 Seahawks championship ring.

The photo above shows (on top) the actual championship ring that was offered to me.

There were a couple of issues with the NFC ring that troubled me – the paperwork that came with the player’s ring didn’t match the ring properly, and worse, the player’s uniform number, personalized on the ring, was not the jersey number he wore during the season.

As I pondered the sale for a couple of days, another item that bothered me greatly, was how sub-par the Seahawks Tiffany ring design was, when compared to the Patriots AFC ring from 2011 (also shown above).

I’m showing both rings so you can see how magnificent and well designed the Patriots championship ring is. There’s beautiful color on the ring top and on the side too. My favorite part of the ring is that the Patriots acknowledged and celebrated their 7 Super Bowl appearances, with 7 marquis diamonds on top of the ring.

When compared to the Seahawks 2014 championship ring, the Seattle’s shank is dramatically inferior to the Patriots shank (side of the ring) and makes no mention of their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance and third overall appearance.

As I pondered the sale, the paperwork issue, the jersey number mismatch, all I could think about was how much worse the Seahawks ring was than the Pats ring. Ultimately I decided to pass on the opportunity to purchase this ring.

I’m sure I will acquire a Seahawks championship ring sooner or later, but most importantly, the ring will be acquired without the issues mentioned above, and the ring will be priced at a more realistic figure.

Please remember, I purchase championship rings all the time, so if you have a ring to sell, let’s talk.

Championship Rings Are Coming Back In Focus

September 19, 2015

With the Lazy Days of Summer Behind Us, There’s Much More Recent Activity in the Championship Ring Collecting Community:

**photo description here**

Perhaps it’s the start of the Football season, or perhaps with Summer over, it’s back to the normal grind. Whatever the reason, I’m getting more opportunities to acquire championship rings.

I’ve heard from more collectors and memorabilia dealers lately and have been offered some amazing championship rings.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll share some championship rings I acquired, and write about a couple that got away.

As always, I’ll share my thoughts on some good values, and ones that are perhaps priced too high.

Here’s to a great fall, and a wonderful football season, and tons of discussions on championship rings.

I want to give special thanks to the many championship ring enthusiasts who read this blog and please keep those suggestions coming on topics for this blog.

Please remember, I buy championship rings all the time. So if you would like to discuss selling your ring to me, please reach out and contact me.
