Sports Collectors Digest Disappoints Collecting Industry.

In mid June, the Publisher of SCD, Dean Listle reached out and phoned me and proclaimed Coache's Corner would no longer be welcomed to advertise in SCD.
Dean explained that in about 30 days SCD would be able to comment on this matter.
Well, it's been over 60 days and SCD remains silent on this topic. SCD wanted desperately to show they cared about the industry and wanted to do the right thing. Many readers of this blog told me that they could never forgive SCD for years of looking the other way and accepting Coach's Corner as an advertiser. These readers helped compute the math - it showed that CC had made millions of dollars over the years selling bogus autographs. I told those readers to give SCD a chance, I felt SCD would do the right thing.
Now I must admit that I was wrong - SCD has done nothing and has said nothing. The Coaches Corner auctions continue and it's no secret that collectors could really use some help in letting the industry know how bad Coach's Corner is. Shame on SCD. They could have made a difference but they have done nothing.
Well, this blog will continue and thanks to a bunch of loyal and steady readers we will continue to get the word out.
One person to this site continually brings up Coach's Corner "F" grade from the Better Business Bureau. Others comment about the rash of Michael Jackson signed items and how the Babe Ruth and Mantle forged autographs look worse than ever.
Than there is Lee, who may or may not be the "real" Lee, owner of the auction site. Every once in a while, this Lee person will make soft threats. He knows from our last run in, any threat will be brought to his local authorities attention. I would love nothing better than to file a complaint with them.
Speaking of law enforcement, the FBI continues to look at our industry. I wonder if Lee and his partners are feeling the heat yet? I wonder if Stat Authentic is worried? Perhaps this blog should draw more attention to that company too.
As summer winds down, I promise to be more active and to try to help educate the community to the forgeries at Coach's Corner.
Mike The Ring Guy.

There's little doubt that Lee is indeed the real Lee. Just email him and read how he answers. Same idiot that was posting crap on here Mike.
Thanks Matt,
I agree, who else could defend these criminals except Lee, his partners and his crooked friends at Stat Authentic.
I knew at the time of their statement it wasn't in their best intrests, from a business or legal perspective, to address the issue editorially. As someone who works in publishing and sells advertising, you just don't lambast a former advertiser. It is simply bad business and sends a bad message to current or potential advertisers.
Don't get me wrong, SCD cannot have it both ways. They can't advocate being a resource for collectors while talking Coaches Corner dirty money and they did the right thing in not renewing their ad schedule.
With the FBI deeply involved in an ongoing investigation, if and when indicments are handed down, the last thing SCD wants is to be tied to a company, in any way, that has flooded the market with fraudulent material. The arguement could be made that their advertisements promoted and made readily available a market for the bogus material (which it did)and has the potential for class action lawsuit written all over it.
I'm not suggesting that they lambast a former advertiser. And I don't think they have to worry about a class-action lawsuit as they can claim they had no idea the items were forgery. However, at some point, they should do a story about how the industry has protested and suspected that CC sells bogus items. Had SCD acted as an independant jouralist, they could report on the story. Furthermore, the editor told me they were going to discuss this matter. Perhaps SCD is so busy, trying to protect themselves from a lawsuit that they did not realize how bad they look and how this "bury your head in the sand" mentality has destroyed their creditability and it's not a coincidence their readship and advertising dollars are way way down.
I think any comments SCD would make now would be so full of legaleeze and compliance text... anything stronger could be considered slander.
SCD would be better served by reporting on the FBI investigation.
Coach's Corner is trash. Just take a look at the new shit they have up this week. Unbelievable how they keep getting away with it.
Go Rays!
the fbi might be looking into coachs corner, and no one would ever know it until they kick the doors in. they dont comment and tip anybody off. they make sure they have every t crossed and i dotted before they move in. they dont want ANY wiggle room. they want to get them dead to rights. so if you ask the fbi, they are not going to say they are looking into coachs corner. they just arent going to comment, and they often take a long time to set the hook before they go in for the kill.
Mike,
I've saved an auto I bought from CC a while back before Lee changed his "guarateed to be authentic" policy on his personal certs to "to the best of my knowledge this autograph is authentic". I bought it because the price was less than postage and I was new to the auto realm. I would be happy to turn it over to the FBI as an exhibit for them to use in any case against CC. I am hoping that the FBI is deep in CCs pocket right now, buying one of the Kellys or especially one of the new Shoeless Joe Jacksons.
I know in my business, if I claim for an item to be real and it turns out to knowingly be fake, I am through. My name is trashed and my income dwindles. CC doesn't care anything about the hobby as long as dollars are floating in.
Heck, they could live on what they charge for shipping alone.
I am also former subscriber to the former Coaches Corner Times, also known as SCD. Even at 89% off the subscription price, I can't muster rejoining until they make this right.
Go, FBI!
Semi-Pro,
I get the feeling SCD will run and not address this issue. They had a chance to make it right (or less wrong after years of taking CC advertising dollars) and they did nothing. Shame shame!
Collectors,
If you need something to make you laugh, check out CC auction lot #271. I don't need to go any further than to say it it by far the WORST I have seen. Same person signed all...and it appears they may need to be checked for Parkinson's.
Enjoy!
And........
FBI, if your reading this, PLEASE go to www.myccsa.com and look at lot#271, then the Ruth that he "personally" dated 1932 (lot#2), and the Shoeless Joe Jacksons(lots 202 and 287). These examples explain themselves and the autheticators need to be questioned.
If you did something for twenty-plus years, and nothing happened and you had success, why the hell would you stop? What else would you do? This is all you know how to do and it's sad that this is the way of life you have chosen for yourself.
There is no penalty for Lee noting he got it himself (yeah right) or guaranteeing it's authenicity "for life". How foolish do you have to be to fall for that line nowadays?
SCD created a monster (also by promoting their authenticators) and now it wants to wipe it's hand clean of it OR SCD left, a periodical it helped destroy. SCD, the creator, is the true enemy here and subscribers and advertisers are helping the beast live. For what reasons? Why?
This is a phenomenal place to bring forth the frustration of the collectors.
Adam,
I get the feeling the advertisers and readers have not forgotten what SCD did. There are many less advertising pages, the magazine offers an 89% discount and there are many people in the industry who are former subscribers. I have heard that they are on life support over at SCD.
I see that T.S over at SCD is now again going to statr the comment section of his blog.
TS is going to allow comments again. Cool! thanks for letting me know, i'm there!!!!
I get the feeling that TS will change his mind again once he gets hit with true and well deserved critisism.
He claims he'll allow comments that he approves before hand if you include you're full name and city of residence. What a joke!
I can't wait to ask him why the Editor of SCD told me a statement was coming about CC no longer being allowed to advertise in their publication. That statement was never made, however, i do see the cc paid link on the scd web site.
Why bother with TS O'Connell at all. Nobody reads his column and SCD is practically giving away subscriptions. SCD is basically an unwanted entity.
I get a good laugh at reading this site and the bothering of T.S. Let's all cry for him and that periodical! BTW, new Coach's ends Friday! Nice stuff selling for peanuts so far. Wonder why! Keep up the great work here.
Yes, the Coach's Corner auction ends tonight. A Ben Franklin cut auto certified (cough, cough) Stat Authentic and that Lee Trythall and Scott Malack claims has a BV of 10K is now at a whopping $392.00....a Lou Gehrig autographed bat that Lee Trythall and Scott Malack has a BV of $3,000 (an authentic Lou Gehrig autographed bat has a true BV of ten times that amount) is at a whopping $318.00. When Lee and Scott write in that item description (Lot Number 324) "Book value here is an astounding $3,000.00" they are basically telling you it is a forgery.
Some of the final bid prices on the Coach's Corner auction that ended last night (Sept. 2009). Ben Franklin cut auto sold for $511.00; Abraham Lincoln cut auto sold for $331.00; A 1932 Yankees team-signed baseball sold for a whopping $1365.00; Joe Jackson (yes, that Joe Jackson) autographed baseball sold for a whopping $1433.00; Mickey Mantle autographed bat with inscriptions sold for a whopping $475.00....the listings in that Sept 2009 Coach's Corner auction was the worst batch of forgeries CC has sold up to this point.
Tonight is Sept. 15, 2009 and in my last comment I stated that last month's Coach's Corner auctions were the ugliest forgeries up to that point. Well, I was wrong. Tonight the new Coach's Corner auctions began and THEY ARE the ugliest forgeries that Lee Trythall and Scott Malack have listed so far. Check out the Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Mickey Mantle auctions. They are simply horrific!!!!
How many auctions a year is Coach's doin now? They just ended a "funny" one and this one is even funnier!
Christy Mathewson signed stationary, Lou Gehrig signed jersey, Babe Ruth signed jersey, Jimmie Foxx signed glove, Honus Wagner signed bat, 19th Century signatures like Brouthers, Radbourne...
It's just hilarity! They have the same stuff, EVERY FREAKING MONTH! If you son't want to go to $310 on the Ruth jersey, just wait until next month folks!
Nobody has anything to say about CCSA's current crap? Where did everyone go? Did ya'all give up?
Travis, very few of us really care about the garbage in the marketplace. Collectors like you, others and myself must keep exposing the garbage on Coach's Corner.
It just seemed to me everyone gave up and figured it was a losing battle. Even Mike, who is our leader here, has been mute for months.
Travis, I totally agree. Even if there are only a few of us to expose these dirtbags we will continue to show the bad guys that someone is always watching them. One day all of this will be national news.....

YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT! My favorite comment of all!
"Just like in any business, people have found ways to make money dishonestly," said Lee Trythall, general manager of Coach's Corner, a sports and entertainment memorabilia auction house in Souderton.
"People simply forge names on pieces. They sign baseballs with Babe Ruth, boxing gloves with Muhammad Ali, footballs with Peyton Manning," he said. "You can be a 14-year-old kid with a steady hand and a pen."Trythall said Coach's Corner refers customers to STAT to review memorabilia.
Was this written by Ted Taylor in a dress? I guess any mope can write nonsensical dribble. This broad doesn't know anything about anything and it's good to see she did her research. I hope this site dedicates itself to producing an update Blog and I hope the youtube guy will do a story on this nit.
lol...so STAT and CCSA will say: "Hey, look at this piece written about us!" and then how do they explain the comments below? I hope the angered collecting public treats this like they treated T.S O'C!
I was totally floored when I read that article in the PhillyBurbs from author Crissa Shoemaker Debree. Any criticism she receives is well-deserved. I am sure the YouTube guy will be doing a video on Crissa and her article.
Mike, where are you? Anyway, have you guys heard the news that Darren Daulton is consigning his baseball memorabilia to Coach's Corner. Incredible!
Mike,
What should the Daulton ring sell for?
Adam
well, daulton is known for being crazy. i hope it doesnt sell well, so cc gets a bigger rep for low prices. dykstras ring went for over 50 grand at heritage auction last week. it doesnt matter anyway, since daultons stuff will only be a blip, cc will be back selling their normal crap the month after that. Somehow someone got to daulton and convinced him it was a good idea to sell at cc. what an idiot!
I read on another board the Darren got a very generous offer and a great deal from Lee and has no clue about the people he's dealing with. I also read that they are in talks of getting some of Von Hayes and and Victorino stuff for future auctions.
See, if you're Lee, and you throw some of that stuff in with the usual crap they have...it makes
EVERYTHING look legit to the average Joe. Coach's Crapper is sneaky!!
Christopher, it's obvious Mike has given up and turned his battles to fights he can actually win. It's a shame too cause he has leadership qualities much like yourself. CC's has to be paying some high powered people off!
if someone wants to know if lee is really him, just ask him to give us his middle name. Lee, what is it?
Love that comment, Rich, especially "Coach's Crapper." That about describes the garbage they auction off and flood the market with.
Travis, I too am concerned about Mike. Perhaps he's dealing with a lot in his personal life and my prayers and thoughts go out to him and his family.
As for Coach's Crapper, does anybody know when Darren's stuff will be up for auction. Thanks Christopher and keep up the battle. You are our very own William Walllace! Mike is our Robert the Bruce!
I hope Mike is okay, too, but he is probably busy with work. Even if Mike was done with this I couldn't blame him and we should all still appreciate his work up until now. This is a battle that will be never-ending and it is time consuming. I appreciate the nice comment, Rich. As long as I am able to I will always continue to fight those people who forge, authenticate forgeries and sell forgeries. They easily outnumber us but it doesn't deter us.
Sorry i have not been around. I have been busy with work, busy watching the Yankees and busy with the family. I really hate those coache's corner crooks and will try to be more active soon.
thanks everyone for keeping up the fight.
regarding boxing, cc always has ali, dempsey, louis, liston, marciano, frazier, but never has the older champions like fitzsimmons, sullivan, jeffries, jack johnson. you think the thousands of consignors, (reality about 5) would have one of those older champions to consign, but they dont.
1939 BaseBall inagural hall of fame induction. Does CC have a million of these signed sheets and baseballs or what? All in pristine condition too!
Matt, that's nothing.
About 7-8 yrs ago, they auctioned off the actual pair of cleats Joe Jackson took off in a game in like 1906 or something to get the nickname shoeless Joe. It of course was singed and dated with an inscription.
Then several months later had up Carl Hubbuls baseball that he used to strikeout several batters in a row in an all star game. The orininal of course is in cooperstown for decades.
That sounds about right matt. Take a look at some of their newest trash up right now. Why OH WHY has the government done nothing????
I don't know why the gov't hasnt done anything, but I do know that the FBI is aware of coaches corner, morales and STAT authentic.
Just to let you know, Tom is back up on youtube guys. He posted that the morons at CC's said in an auction description that Joyce Randoplh is dead to get more money for it, when in fact she is alive and well. Insane!!
Thanks 4 the heads up, I just seen that! I hope to see more of his informative videos as well.
As any auctions should go:Be educated,as is, buyer be aware/alert, and use common sense!! Coache"s Corner is no other different than many other auction houses!!!!I've sent back and butted heads , Do you know how many PSA/JSA misidentified material and they think their s---don't stink!!!East Coast Authentication.com/.org./.net-K.B..
Cocks's Corner is up again with a flurry of new shit. I was just looking at a small sample of it.
LOT 1..."for the right price Darren will hand deliver the ring to you!!"
Ya, OK Lee..shut the hell up!
LOT 2...another 1927 yankees ball that has 26 forgeries!
Hurry up and get in on this one guys!!
LOT 5...A %1,000,000 fake JFK/Jackie Kennedy dual signed ball that looks like it was penned last week...oh, that's cause it was!
40+ yrs after the man had his head blown off and you scumbags "find" this? I'm surprised you didn't date it 11-24-1963 or would that have been too obvious? Nice classy work Lee and Scott!
LOT 7..Just might be the absolute worse Ruth forgery I've ever seen!
Lee, can't you find anyone out there who can forge these better for you? There are a lot of people looking for work dickhead.
LOT 53..Worse Gabby Hartnett ever forged.
Lee, Gabby didn't even sign close to that!
By the way Lee & Scott and all the rest of you douchebags over there, why didn't any of you show up at Joyce Randolph's funeral? According to you all, she' dead, right.
EVERY ONE OF YOU OWE MISS RANDOLPH A PUBLIC APOLOGY!
It's a toss-up between Lot 2 and Lot 7 as to which one of those forgeries (yes, 100% forgeries) is the worst. But the most forgery has to be Lot 790. Anyone able to afford a real Bonnie & Clyde signature may as well mortgage their home to purchase. There are maybe (yes MAYBE) only one or two Bonnie Parker authentic signatures. And read that moronic item description which reads "The Parker has not been certified as of yet, but is just as nice!" What the heck does that mean "but is just as nice." Which idiot at CC wrote that item description! And if you notice the Bonnie and Clyde auction is up to a whopping $30.00. Think about that, a potential $50,000 item up to a whopping $30.00. What does that tell you. Also, check Lot 811. A Greta Garbo cut auto that is up to a whopping $15.00. I think that says it all. All brought to you by Lee Trythall and Scott Malack.
Check out Lot Numbers 702, 719 and and 729 on the Coach's Corner auction site. They are the three worst Derek Jeter forgeries you will ever see. In all three lots CCSA (Lee Trythall) guarantees the signatures. What Lee is guaranteeing is that all three Jeter signatures are forgeries. They ARE 100% forgeries. I have a feeling their Lot Number 790 is going to get some video attention this month.
bonnie and clyde, its ridiculous.! i see they had al capone baseball too. what the heck is wrong with this picture that cc can just put up any piece of junk they want and get away with it.! come on feds.! let's go here!
if you really want to put pressure on getting these clowns out of business, who wants to work with me to ask fellow collectors to make a group effort to contact the Penn. State Attorney Generals office and file a complaint?
I'm with you Mike. Another Capone ball! In 2005, Lee auctioned off a Al Capone signed ball on the sweet spot, with autos of Frank Nitti and Angelo Passerili on the side panels. Funny thing is Passerili was killed by Nitti on October 12 1929 on supposedly orders from Capone.
Here's the kicker about the ball Lee sold...under Passerili's auto was a dated inscription of 1930!
What is it with Lee not being able to get these things right? And why is the government locked these SOB's up for stealing hundreds of millions of dollars and ruining our great hobby by polluting it with thousands of pieces of trash weekly?
Thank you people for directing me to their auction site. I looked through some of their stuff for sale and was asking myself is Mr. Daulten is alright. He must REALLY be hard up for money to give up some of the items I saw.
Something must be done to finally stop this Horse Manure they are selling! I am willing to join forces with Mike and whomever to defeat these rotten apples.
ok guys, sorry i have not been around. I will write a blog this week with contact info the the Penn. state attorney generals office. Hopefully we can hound them and show them how bad coache's corner is. maybe lee can send me some emails so I can flavor the complaints with harrassment too!
I wonder what Darren Daulton and Tony Perri are thinking now. Daulton's World Series ring is up to a whopping $4,631.00 as of Nov. 18, 2009. Only four of Daulton's items have hit the $100.00 mark.
Sorry I haven't been around either. My wife and I are throwing the gloves off every night and I've been spending a lot of time with my friend Jack Daniels. I will help anyway I can to bring these guys down.
i think we should all sign up for coaches corner auctions, bid like crazy, then pay in counterfeit bills, checks and money orders, when C C complains about it, we complain that their stuff is just as phony!
we should buy from coaches corner and use monopoly money. they cant complain about that. just as authentic as the stuff they peddle there!
I love that idea! pay with Hanna Montana money for all that shit they peddle through the country! They're just as bad as drug dealers, except I'm sure CC makes more money than most of them. Mike, when are you writing a new blog? Any thoughts on what subject it will cover?
I want to write the blog today or within the next few days. It will be on our campaign to get the Penn. State Attorney General Involved and also a story on someone who purchased a Lou G. fake basball from cc. sorry I have not done this earlier!
No need to say I'm sorry for anything. We're all busy this time of the year. Those topics should be good read and I can't wait. And I know for a fact that Lou Gehrig didn't sign too often, but coach's commode seems to have an entire warehouse full. I also have an interesting story I gonna put up here in the next few days. Might help our case we're building! I just want to wish you and your family-and everyone's that come here-a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
